An Arthur's Seat Adventure Session, Edinburgh || Alexis : Andrew

Andrew and Alexis’ love story is one defined by adventure, passion, and an unwavering commitment to one another. From their first meeting in the emergency department, where Andrew worked as a firefighter and paramedic, and Alexis as an ER nurse, they have shared a deep connection built on loyalty and shared values. So, when it came to their wedding day, they wanted something that reflected the unique bond they had built—a day that was personal, intimate, and deeply meaningful.

Their wedding experience began even before the ceremony, when they joined us for what we call an Adventure Session in the heart of Edinburgh. This pre-wedding shoot gave us the chance to capture the essence of their relationship in a different setting, while allowing their family to soak in the beauty of the city. We spent time wandering through the charming streets of Edinburgh, before taking everyone on an unforgettable walk up Arthur’s Seat. As the sun set, casting a golden glow over the city, we enjoyed a whisky toast, surrounded by breathtaking views and the laughter of their loved ones. It was the perfect way to get to know Andrew, Alexis, and their family before heading north for their wedding day.

This adventure session set the tone for the rest of their celebration, combining the adventurous spirit of Andrew and Alexis with the deep familial connections they both value so much. It was a magical experience for everyone involved, and one we will always treasure.

When it came time for their wedding, they chose to exchange their vows at the historic Eilean Donan Castle, with its stunning views and rich history providing the perfect backdrop. Surrounded by just 11 guests, including their closest family, they said "I do" in a religious ceremony at 6:30 pm. It was a truly magical moment, where every word and glance spoke of their journey together. After the ceremony, they made their way to the picturesque Kinloch Lodge for an intimate reception, where laughter and love filled the room.

But what made their wedding truly unforgettable was the way their day was captured on film. Andrew and Alexis knew that photographs alone couldn’t tell the whole story, which is why they chose us to document their special day in motion. From the sweeping Scottish landscapes to the quiet, emotional moments between the couple, their wedding film encapsulated the essence of their relationship—adventurous, passionate, and deeply connected.

We were incredibly honoured when their wedding video was selected as a finalist for Way Up North 2019, one of Europe’s most prestigious awards for wedding filmmaking. Competing for the title of Europe’s Best Wedding Video, Alexis and Andrew’s film stood out not just for its beautiful visuals, but for the story it told. Their proposal under the water at La Jolla Beach, their shared values of family and adventure, and the depth of their connection were all brought to life in a way that resonated with audiences across the continent.

Being named a finalist was a proud moment, and it was a true reflection of the magic that Andrew and Alexis brought to their day. Their wedding wasn’t just a celebration of love—it was a celebration of who they are as individuals and as a couple. And their film, now recognised on an international stage, will forever remain a cherished reminder of their beautiful journey together.
