A Cinematic Scottish Elopement || Ashleigh & Connor’s Love Story in Glencoe
Some love stories deserve more than words—they need to be felt. Ashleigh and Connor’s intimate elopement in Glencoe, Scotland, was exactly that: raw emotion, breathtaking landscapes, and a cinematic experience they can relive forever. For couples searching for a Scotland elopement videographer to create a stunning cinematic wedding film, their story is the perfect inspiration.
Capturing More Than Just a Wedding
For Ashleigh and Connor, eloping wasn’t about avoiding tradition—it was about crafting a wedding experience that was deeply personal. Yet, they knew that some of their most important loved ones wouldn’t be there in person, making a wedding film essential.
“One of the reasons we chose to elope was because of your films, so it would only be right to have it captured. Also, so our family can watch our wedding day since they will not be there.”
Their wedding film isn’t just a record of their day; it’s a way to bring their loved ones into the experience—to let them feel the wind in the glens, hear their vows, and witness their love in the place where they felt most at home.
A Love That Stood the Test of Time
Ashleigh and Connor’s journey spans over a decade. Introduced through mutual friends, they connected at a house party and became inseparable.
“We have spent most days together since, and that was 11 years ago! So about time we get wed.”
For them, it was never about the spectacle of a wedding—it was about the experience, the connection, and being fully present with each other on their special day.
The Proposal: A Surprise in the Heart of Edinburgh
Connor knew he wanted to propose when the time was right. Ashleigh had one condition—she wanted them to live together first, just in case she didn’t like him as much anymore (spoiler: she did). A week after moving in together, on Ashleigh’s birthday, Connor planned a romantic day in Edinburgh. As the drinks flowed, she had no idea what was coming.
Arriving home to a garden full of their closest family members, she was completely caught off guard when she turned around to see Connor down on one knee. A perfect moment that led them to their unforgettable wedding day.
The Perfect Glencoe Elopement Location
When choosing their elopement location, Ashleigh and Connor knew it had to be Scotland—the dramatic landscapes, the wild beauty, the moody skies—it all felt right. But how do you pick between Glencoe and the Isle of Skye? Simple: flip a coin.
They landed on Glencoe, a place that has inspired so many love stories, including their own. With sweeping mountains, hidden lochs, and an untamed atmosphere, it was the perfect backdrop for the cinematic elopement experience they wanted.
And let’s talk about the Cinemate curse for a second. Scotland is known for its unpredictable weather—usually rain. But for some reason, most of our elopements end up incredibly sunny. We swear it’s not intentional! Of course, this does not guarantee sunshine if you book us (let’s be real, we are still in Scotland). But whatever the weather, we create epic visuals, whether it’s golden-hour light or the dramatic, misty mood of a true Scottish day.

The Experience They Wanted
Eloping wasn’t about running away—it was about creating a space where they could be truly present, without distractions. Their day was designed to be stress-free, intimate, and filled with joy.
“We want to be fully present in the moment and spend the day together without any stresses. We really want you both and Danielle to have fun and be relaxed also.”
Giving their photographer and filmmakers full creative freedom, they embraced every moment—letting the landscape, the love, and the storytelling come together naturally.
Favourite Cinematic Moment
Of all the incredible moments from this day, one of our absolute favourites was when we found the perfect spot along the Glen Etive river for Ashleigh and Connor to lie down, framed perfectly against the landscape. As I flew the drone overhead, I couldn’t help but scream, “Think dead fairies!”—a reference to our chat about Scotland’s ethereal nature. We all still laugh about it to this day.
It’s these little unexpected moments—the ones that weren’t planned but just happened—that make elopements so special. The inside jokes, the spontaneity, the sheer joy of it all. That’s what we love capturing most.
In Their Own Words: Ashleigh & Connor’s Testimonial
“I picked Cinemate before I picked my husband! I have followed Cinemate’s work for years as I too work in the wedding industry. I knew I wanted them to film my wedding as I just loved their style of storytelling and artistic flair. So when my partner and I decided to elope and I showed him Cinemate’s work, he knew he didn’t want to look at any other videographers—he was just as blown away with the talent as I was.
Our wedding day in Glencoe was amazing, and we really enjoyed Simon and Gregg’s company. They are so fun and easy to get on with—it really did feel like old friends. Simon and Gregg worked so well with our photographer; it was exciting seeing them bounce ideas about. The day went so fast as we had so much fun.
Even though I was really familiar with Cinemate’s style and quality, I was still in absolute awe watching our films back. They are so beautifully shot and edited. I have watched so many times! (They made us look so good haha!) My family couldn’t believe the standard of quality and film style. They love showing the film to friends, strangers—anyone really.
I will be forever grateful to Simon and Gregg for capturing our day.”
